Semi-Automatic Timing System STATE & NATIONAL QUALIFYING MEET

These Championships are open to all registered members of Wide Bay Region affiliated clubs.

$6.50 per Individual Event, Relays $20.00 per Club Team Nomination – See relay rules.
Nominations close Midnight Monday 26th February 2018. Entry will be via on-line nominations only, via the link noted below in the Entries section (except for additional events for 9, 10 & 11 yr age groups under special conditions outlined on page 3 of this flyer).

Age is at the first day of competition, ie 9th March 2018; Athletes cannot swim ‘up’ an age in individual events. Minimum age to compete at these Championships is 9 years.
Minimum age for 1500m & 800m Freestyle is 13 years.
Minimum age for 400m, 400IM, 200m Breaststroke, 200m Butterfly and 200m Backstroke is 12 years. Minimum age for 200m Freestyle is 11 years.

See attached. These times must have been achieved in either a LC or SC Meet, between 1st January 2017 and 25th February 2018, Excluding School & Coaches Times.

All 50m & 100m events will be conducted as heats & finals, except 11 Years & Under and Multi Class events, which will be conducted as Timed Finals during the heat sessions.

Swimmers aged 9 Years

  • If a swimmer meets the Qualifying Time in at least 2 x 50m Stroke Events, they are then eligible to nominate for either or both of the remaining 2 x 50m Stroke Events, irrespective of if they have met the Qualifying Time or not. Swimmers are still to pay the nomination fee for all events entered and must have an official recorded time for the additional 1 or 2 events they are nominating for without meeting the Qualifying Time.
  • Every swimmer who competes at the Championships will receive the “Championship Medal”.
  • If a swimmer competes in each of the 4 x 50m Stroke Events, they will receive the “Melanie Wright Medal” in recognition of their

    achievement in competing in all 4 individual stroke events at the championships.

  • No Placegetter Medals or Age Champions will be awarded to swimmers.

    Swimmers aged 10 & 11 Years

  • If a swimmer meets the Qualifying Time in at least 2 x 100m Stroke Events, they are then eligible to nominate for either or both of the remaining 2 x 100m Stroke Events, irrespective of if they have met the Qualifying Time or not. Swimmers are still to pay the nomination fee for all events entered and must have an official recorded time for the additional 1 or 2 events they are nominating for without meeting the Qualifying Time.
  • Every swimmer who competes at the Championships will receive the “Championship Medal”.

    Swimmers aged 12 Years and Over

  • Swimmers must meet Qualifying Times in all events they nominate for.
  • Placegetter Medals and Age Champion towels will be awarded as per previous Championship Meets.

    Some 50m and 100m events may become straight finals in the 12 & over age groups. These events will become apparent once nominations close. Swimmers are required to marshal for these events during the heats session as normal. Finals will be conducted as per the program (ie. in the Finals sessions at the end of Saturday and Sunday).
    All 400m, 800m & 1500m events will be conducted as timed finals in the heats sessions.

    All 200m events will be conducted as Multi Age events and swum as timed finals in the heats sessions. Age Champion towels kindly supplied by McDonald’s.

Medals are presented to 1st, 2nd, 3rd in Open and Individual Age (12 – 17 Years) Events.
Medals are presented for Individual Age (12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, Open) Groups in combined Events.
Swimmers aged 11 years will not be eligible to receive a placegetters medal in any Open event should they compete.

Eligibility for Age Champions:
Multi Class Swimmers must swim in all 4 x 50m Events.
Individual Age (12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17 & Open) Group swimmers must swim in each of the 4 x 100m Events.
Points awarded will be: 6 (1st ), 3 (2nd ), 1 (3rd ) for all Age Champion events.
In the event of a tie, the swimmer with the lowest aggregate time across the 4 x 100m events will be awarded Age Champion.

A maximum of 2 teams per Club may be entered in any Relay Event. Club Nomination and payment must be received by Monday 26th February 2018, with final names of relay swimmers to be submitted by 11.00am on Saturday 9th March 2018.
Relay swimmers must nominate and compete in at least one Individual event to be eligible to swim in a Relay event.
Entries are to be submitted by club Race Secretaries, via the online entry process.

Entries: Individual and Team Relay entries must be submitted via the online nominations process via the link found on the home page of the Wide Bay Swimming website – https://widebay.swimming.org.au/

Entries for the 9, 10 & 11yr age groups for events where the qualifying time has not been met need to be emailed to [email protected] with the swimmers name, event being nominated for and their PB clearly stated.
We will not be accepting any No Times for the 9, 10 & 11 yr age groups. Swimmers must provide a genuine time for every event they wish to nominate for, which can be cross checked on Results Central. School swimming & coaches times are excluded.

Multi Class Swimmers must produce their current classification card to the referee prior to the commencement of the meet. Swimmers without cards or who do not produce cards, will not be eligible for medals.

Parents and Clubs need to check under Events & Results/Swim Meets on www.widebay.swimming.org.au for the Psych Sheet and respond with any questions to their Club Race Secretary within 48 hours of the Psych Sheets being published. Club Race Secretaries will then contact Wide Bay Committee.
